I’ve been using the Document SSO > Edit Schema > Review Rating section on my review custom post type (see below). The problem is that this field is deeply nested in the page (at the bottom of the edit screen, scrolled down halfway under a secondary panel.

Is it possible to somehow create a standalone module which can be put at the top of the page so that it’s easier and more convenient for my authors to add their ratings?

The Document SSO metabox’s purpose is to customize the data that WordPress and plugins provide. It sounds like you’re not using a review plugin, so authors must customize the review rating for every page. The Schema tab is designed top-down, https://schema.org/Review for example is a sub-type of https://schema.org/CreativeWork, so the CreativeWork properties are listed first, and then the Review properties.

That makes sense. Is there any way though to create a standalone form which could write into those fields? I wonder if it would be possible to create a dummy form that wrote into those few fields with JavaScript. Hmmm.

You could also create a custom field and enter the custom field name in SSO > Advanced > Attributes and Metadata > Custom Fields > Review Rating Custom Field, although that would require the Premium edition of the plugin.
