Post doesn't show up

  • I created it in the usual way, same way I created all the others. It did not appear.

    * I cleared the Firefox cache, and refreshed the page
    * I deleted the post and recreated it
    * I reassigned to another Category (no joy) then back again (no joy)

    Can’t think of what else to try or why it’s not visible.

    Anyone?

    you may try:

    -deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to narrow down and possibly fix the problem. If the problem goes away, activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the culprit.

    -switching to the default theme (“twentyten”) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

    How do I deactivate plug-ins? I think I only have one, how would I know?

    I’ve only been playing with this for two weeks and I have to admit I don’t really understand it.

    That renaming trick, rename it, rename it back?

    btw: I’ve noticed that the Category count is correct, i.e.
    Properties for Sale (6) (but only five appear)

    Maybe that’s helpful, maybe not.

    Deactivating plug-ins made no change.

    I’ll try the renaming trick.

    I found out what was causing it. There’s a function which defaults to 5 if not set to a specific number.

    revnice, please explain in more detail what you did to resolve in case someone else has the same problem.

    It was set up by a friend and all he said was that a variable, relating to number of posts per category, did not contain a specific number and therefore the default (5) was used.

    Therefore the 6th and all subsequent posts were not displayed.

    Once that variable was set to infinity, which I think is a value of -1, all posts were displayed.
