Post by Email Problem

Using WP 3.5, Jetpack 2.0.4, twenty eleven theme
I connected my jetpack to wordpress.com. However after enabling post by email, none of the emails are being posted to the site. What protocol is wordpress.com using to update my site after it receives the email? Is it communicating over port 80? My site is on a gov network behind firewalls, however it was no issue connecting my jetpack to wordpress.com. Since this isn’t working I’m assuming I need to tell the network/firewall guys to open something up, question is what?
