Post and comments notification

When I started this blog about a month ago I was notified via my blog’s email whenever a comment came in. I could then moderate it, approve, delete etc. I no longer receive these email re comments but see a comment notification in the dashboard’s top banner. Also, whenever I do a new post I now receive notification that the post has been made, including the entire post, via my blog email. This never happened before. I am a newbie at this so I am not sure if this is normal or what. How can I configure or reconfigure this on my blog setting. I did receive an answer to an earlier query about this to go into post and comment settings and reconfigure. Unfortunately I could not find any such icon to edit.
