    Hello WP Forums,

I updated my wordpress page from 5.6 to 6.0.2 tonight and I noticed some issues that I can’t seem to get around.

Any attempt to edit or make a new post is met with “Updating failed. You are probably offline.” I also noticed that images are no longer properly displaying in the posts, even though the media library is present.

I am still able to install/activate/remove plugins. And I had one successful edit attempt after a cache clear (but that was not a reproducible condition). Any insight/assistance would definitely be appreciated.

  • Hi, have you tried disabling all plugins and checking if the issue persists afterward? Are the plugins all up-to-date after the WordPress version update? Have you tried switching to a higher PHP version after updating?

Lastly, you could also try manually downgrading the WP core back to a previous version to verify if this is indeed directly related to the core update.

I tried viewing your website too but can’t see image loading problems either, are there some specific pages where the images are missing?

    Hello gytisp,

Thank you for your response and questions. I’m not entirely sure how to explain what just transpired on my end…

I woke up and observed the same problems on …./ASHEXWP with all images missing on all pages and being unable to edit/make posts. This was happening with all plugins disabled, just to answer that one.

I then attempted to answer your questions about the previous version by importing my database backup and uploading my WP 5.6 backup directory to a different area on the webserver. This newly magicked site seemed to handle all of the images just fine, and I was working on trying to get wp_login to point to the right page.

At this point, I noticed that the updated 6.0.2 WP page was simply working. All the images are now present and I can edit posts again. Not entirely sure what just happened. I didn’t touch anything on the main page during this process, but it appears to be functioning normally again. I activated all the plugins as well, and things remained fine. The chip regained its smoke?

Either way, I’ll monitor the site throughout the day, and if things remain stable by bedtime, I’ll mark this post as resolved. Science? I guess?

Unfortunately, the post issue in 6.0.2 returned.

I managed to finish the restoration of 5.6, and after toggling my plugins, I was able to momentarily have post/edit access again. Given the nature of the process here, I am honestly wondering if this is a server outage issue and has nothing to do with WP at all.

Either way, I am going to mark this one as resolved at this time. I spent two days digging around in the weeds, finding that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, so I just full-sent a new deployment.
