I use the wpml https://wpml.org plugin for my multilingual website. The GREAT feature that was just recently added to wpml was to have the ability to use a different domain name for each language. After months of hard work, this finally is rock solid.

I was hoping to find a facebook plugin that will allow my users to register/login via their facebook credentials.

I saw the warning that this plugin does not work with domain mapping, so am I right to assume that there is no chance that I can use this with the new wpml plugin using different domain names per language?

If these are subdomains (like aaa.example.com and bbb.example.com) then yes. Just make the FB App for the main “example.com” and it should work okay across the lot.

If these are separate domains entirely, then each one needs its own FB App for it. However, unless it’s a multisite setup, there’s no way to have SFC use multiple Apps.

    To answer your points.

    1. Yes these are totally separate domain names just like the domain mapping plugin uses. One custom domain name per language used.

    2. Yes, this is of course multisite, sub-domains in my case.

I will try installing the plugin again to see if I missed something. It seemed no matter what I tried, the wp-register.php page never would show the register via facebook icon as I expected and instead only showed the standard WordPress registration form.

The Registration module in SFC is a bit broken. It works, sometimes. Mostly not.

    Thanks Otto
I was thinking that was the case as I had followed the directions perfectly.

For now, I will just use a different plugin for Facebook until yours is more stable. Your a much better coder than the other plugin author so it is worth me waiting for.

Have a great week and thanks for the info.

SFC is stable, it’s just old. It hasn’t been updated in a while.

I want to discontinue it, eventually, in favor of the official Facebook plugin. I leave it around for now because the official plugin doesn’t have quite all the functions of SFC yet.
