• Hi there,

    I just by chance came across this plugin. I have not used it yet, but the possibility of using a role based slug is fantastic and something I was looking for for a long time. I would need it to work with the buddypress members pages though.

    I know BuddyPress has not introduced the WP rewrite API, but will do with the next release. Do you think it would be possible to adapt your plugin to work with buddypress too? Or basically create a new plugin from yours?

    Anyway, I will try the plugin and examine the code a bit. But if you have experience with the issue before, then I will be glad of any help.

    Rewrite rules scare the hell out of me ??

  • It does work with BuddyPress- I’ve tested it out and it changes the slugs fine on peoples profiles.

    @christine thanks for answering this.

    @landwire Sorry for not responding. I guess I missed this one. The short answer, as Christine stated, is yes, it works with BP. The long answer is a little more nuanced. It depends on a lot of factors. Are you using BP username compatibility mode? If it’s a 2.0 install, it will work without problem. Given that BP 2.0 just launched, and you posted a month ago, I’m guessing that it’s not. This adds another bit of complexity. Changing the author slug will work for all post-change activity items, but older activity items will still link to the older, pre-change, author slug. I plan to address all the scenarios in a future version of Edit Author Slug, but as of right now, I don’t know when that will be.

    @brandon I sent you a message via your plugin website, but have not yet received a response — please let me know if you are available for consulting work related to implementing this plugin on a BuddyPress site. Thanks!
