Possible to set post excerpt as meta description?

    Hello,

    Is it possible for TSF to automatically use my post’s excerpt as the meta description?

    This is something that if offered by both Yoast and Rank Math. But I couldn’t find a way to do this in TSF. It’s the only thing that’s keeping me from finally transitioning to The SEO Framework.

    Howdy!

    TSF works out of the box like that. Your excerpt must have a minimum length as per search engine requirements, however.

    When you supply no meta description manually, TSF automatically picks the post’s excerpt and processes it for search engines. If no excerpt is found, TSF will try to process the post content.

    That’s fantastic! Can I know the minimum length of the excerpt to be used as meta description?

    TSF will take any excerpt, but the least we recommend is about 80 characters for English and most Roman languages. TSF’s “SEO Bar” will inform you about that while considering the site language, among other warning signals, such as the pixel counter (https://tsf.fyi/kb/pixelcounter).

    Although unrelated to this thread, I was wondering if there’s any ETA for TSF v4.3.0 with the built-in transporter?

    v4.3.0 has no ETA yet, and the transportation module won’t be part of it.

    For obvious strategic reasons, the transportation feature will be delivered for free in our companion plugin, Extension Manager: https://tsf.fyi/em. I’m currently developing the extension, hoping to have it out soon?; I got a bit too ambitious developing gimmicks for it. I also have no ETA for its release, but I hope to have it out before October.

    Again, thanks for the info. I am planning to move out of Rank Math, I moved to it from Yoast earlier this year, but it was a wrong decision. The plugin is bloated with gimmicks more than features, and often carries severe bugs with major updates. It has started to feel like the Yoast release cycle all over again.

    I think I will be able to pull of another month or so with Rank Math and wait for the transportation feature to be out.

    My original question was quickly answered, so I will mark this thread as resolved.

    And, a big thanks to you for TSF and actively supporting the users. It’s something that I rarely see in the WP development space.
