Possible to set color with opacity, or greyscale, as overlay?

This is a killer plugin. So first of all: thank you!
Now to my humble request ??
Since a lot of videos on the same page can get a bit aesthetically messy, it would be nice to be able to set greyscale, or a color with opacity, as an overlay for the videos.
On mouse over the overlay would disappear.
I don’t know how difficult this would be to add as a setting, but It would be cool if it was added. Or maybe it is possible to achieve with custom css? If it is, I would be a very happy camper ??
