    I look after an artists website and use NextGen to display their artwork. She has asked me if it’s possible to click on an image and have some text show explaining the artwork? I’ve tried the caption option but this also shows under the thumbnail which isn’t what I want, just when the image is clicked and enlarged.

    Does anyone know if this is possible? I’m running the latest free version and the site is https://www.beckynuttall.com.

    Many thanks!

    @laura Nuttall – Not all of the bundled Lightbox Effects will display the image’s description, have you tried the other options under Gallery > Other Options > Lightbox Effects?

    Thanks!

    Hi Cais,

    Thanks for the quick answer! I’ve found the gallery options that do show the text placed in ‘description’ however my problem is I DON’T want it to show on the tiled gallery page, ONLY when the image is clicked do I want it to show in the pop-up window. Does that make sense? It’s just far too cluttered to have all that text on the gallery page.

    Many thanks for your help!

    Cais – you can see what I mean on this page here.

    All that text under the left-hand image is untidy, any way to get it to appear only on the pop-up window?

    @laura Nuttall – Change to not using the “captions” template. I would suggest start with the default (read: blank) template and see how that works for you. The templates themselves do not affect what is displayed in the Lightbox Effects.

    Forgive my ignorance but where do I find that setting? Thanks!

    @laura Nuttall – If you have inserted the display via the IGW (“green button”) in the TinyMCE editor then click on the preview image and check under the customizations panel. The template drop-down option is there. If it is selected, then you may need to manually delete it from that display.

    You may also need to change your “default” under Gallery > Gallery Settings > NextGEN Basic Thumbnails to use the default (read: blank) template as well (or first).

    Cais, I found it! Went to the page where the gallery is and edited from there.
    I do have a new problem though…the thumbnails in the gallery are overlapping and not sitting nicely on the page. Where would I adjust the spacing?

    Thank you again!

    @laura Nuttall – I would suspect some custom CSS to move the images apart … maybe:

    .ngg-gallery-thumbnail-box {
        margin-bottom: 10px !important;
    }

    – Cais.

    PS: I’m not really seeing an “overlap” so the above CSS just separates the images a bit.
