• A friend of mine changed something in his URL settings in the dashboard and now he can’t login, the site doesn’t work properly, and hard as we’ve tried, we can’t make manual changes to or find any of the settings stored anywhere that it’s possible for me to edit them (he’s somewhat technology impaired).

He’s hosted by a company that, like most of them these days, does not allow direct access to the database so it will be extremely difficult if not impossible for me to edit the MySQL tables directly. Is there any way to change these settings without having to have access to the database tables?

    That makes sense.

????? Is that correct? How did he create his database, and how does he back it up and maintain it? It sounds like you need to log into his account at his hosting company, and review what administrative tools are actually available. If what you say is indeed correct, you need to have the support group at his hosting company help him address his needs. Or tell them to sod off and find a real host.

The proper answer here is no.
