    Hi,

As many photographers, I want to:

    – synchronise my collections with WordPress collections
    – create standard WP galleries pointing to these collections
    – presenting galleries using masonry layout
    – enabling users to browse galleries via a lightbox feature

I bought many heavy, “all-in-one”, and expensive solutions, none of them being satisfactory. The only one that is supposed to do that is NextGen Pro. But the plugin is crap, and doesn’t work.

So, I opted for MEOW solutions, and I’m ALMOST happy.

    – The WP/LR plugin is just perfect.
    – Combined with Real Media library, it is a dream.
    – As far as the Gallery is concerned, it works quite well, but I would suggest these improvements: enabling a one column layout on mobile, and enabling (as an option) a hover Title + Caption
    – As far as the lightbox is concerned, it is not yet perfect, and I agree with remarks previoulsy posted. So I decided to use WP Everlight.
    – The problem I have is that if I use MEOW Gallery, Everlight doesn’t show Tiltes and Captions. When I don’t use MEOW Gallery, it works.

These three improvements would definitely make MEOW approach a perfect solutions.

    Thanks.

    Philippe.

  • Hello Philippe,

Thank you for your very interesting feedback, really glad you enjoy the whole “Meow Suite” ( we have to find a proper name for it ?? ).

    – One column layout on mobile view : Definitely an option we could add !
    – Title / Caption on hover : It’s a bit more complex, but should be ok, in a few updates though, has we have “major” fixs to make before on the Lightbox and the Gallery ??

    – Could you please remind me the biggest drawbacks from Meow Lightbox ? We had many suggestions, I’ve already fixed some that are gonna be pushed in the next update, but I’d like to know what are the biggest issues you’ve encountered.

    – I will try to see why there is a problem with Everlight lightbox with our gallery and keep you updated on this.

Thank you again for this interesting feedback,

    Best regards,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

As far as the MEOW Lightbox is concerned, there are several possible improvements:

The “Photography mode” is very good, but:
    – it should enable to show Titles, Captions, Descriptions, and to optionally hide EXIF data.
    – pictures should always be centred (square pictures are positioned on the left, horizontal pictures are positioned in the center)
    – navigation arrows should stay on the left and rights sides of the scree, at the same location, so that users don’t have to change their mouse position when they pass from one picture to another
    – pictures should be centred vertically too (for the moment, there is no padding on the top)
    – the exit cross should be positioned on top at right which is a usability standard
    – a full screen mode could be an option

The standard mode is better organised in terms of usability (arrows and cross) but it shouldn’t increase the size of the original file (pictures become blurred)

The minimal mode is OK, but same problem with the top padding.

If you solve this, you are not far from a perfect solution.

    Phil.

    Hello Philippe !

Thank you for your detailed answer.

    – We could add an option for always centering images or not, Jordy wanted to have portraits on the left, landscapes centered, so I guess it depends on each persons taste.

    – Good news is I’ve fixed most “design” issues already, waiting to be tested a bit more and then pushed on the repo. ( Navigation arrows / Padding top ).

    – The “x” button should indeed be on the top-right, damn Mac OS giving me bad usability standards !

    – Fullscreen mode could be great ! But yeah, we will do that when everything else have been done.

    – I’ve added the padding top on Minimal too, will be there with the next update.

PS: I’ve installed Everlightbox plugin and I have the same issue than you. I have no idea why it’s not working yet, but I’ll try to sort it out asap.

Thank you again, very helpful !
