We were capturing the gclid fine until after Nov. 23, 2020. I noticed recently an error in the dev console regarding the gclid script which is provided by google https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/7012522?hl=en.
The error was Uncaught ReferenceError: expiryDate is not defined
    at getExpiryRecord (?gclid=34234:316)
    at addGclid </i>
I’m not a coder so it was difficult to find was wrong, and I found out the error only appeared when I was logged out of WP.
After checking possible WP updates or outdated theme as the reason, I decided to turn off plugins. The first one I turned off was SG Optimizer and the error went away. I turned it back on it was back, so I turned off some SGO settings. It looks like the Minify HTMl setting is causing this. Don’t know why it affects the script, but since I have turned this off, the gclid is working again.

    gclid test

This is s link to a test page with default wordpress theme. A test gclid is appended to the url. Minifiy HTML is activated. If you look in dev console you should see a script error. The script is from google and was working prior to Nov 24, 2020 with SGO minified. With the error the gclid isn’t captured to the gclid field in the form.

We have many sites with the same issue. Here is another site 2

Thank you for the update, @jon999.

This is a known issue and we are working on a fix.

You may exclude the page in question by using the Exclude URLs from HTML Minification option.

If the issue persists, let us know.

    Regards,
    Kristiyan
