Hi. I just noticed that when you change the title using the Yoast SEO pane in the post/page editor, it will only show the custom title in the website, but the RSS feed is showing the original post/page title. Is this a bug? If not, why? If you show the same title in your feed and in the webpage, I think you can help to consolidate the user experience when the theme code is not enough.
Is there any way to workaround this?
    Thank you

  • The SEO title you can change is the <title> tag as used in the html head, not the “title” (<h2> normally) as is displayed in the body of the post/page.

AFAIK, RSS feeds send a subject, not a title, and the subject should be the normal post title, i.e. the <h2> not the <title> or as you call it “original post/page title”.

So no bug, the plugin is working correctly.

If you show the same title in your feed and in the webpage, I think you can help to consolidate the user experience

Actually, all the more reason for the plugin not to change anything as the title on the page a user will see, is currently the same in RSS as on the website.
Most users won’t ever see the <title> from the html head (except may be in search results on Google) as – if it is shown by the browser at all – it is only displayed at the very top in the browser title bar (above the address bar and menus).

    Hope this helps.

Hello jrf. Good to know this points. But, effectively, I need that window titles match the RSS feed titles, because it will look ugly if the right, long, keyword relevant, title is set. I can rewrite the titles of pages and post via Yoast’s plugin, but I need the same applied to titles of posts in RSS feeds by adding the category to the normal post title.
Do you know if there is any plugin/hook capable of doing this?

I suggest you have a browse through the WP native filter hook available:

Thank you. Anyway, I was forced to rename all the post titles manually, because the category hooks for the feed didn’t work in the theme used. ??

You could of course ask the theme author to start supporting it ??

Nope. It’s just me. It’s just a complex requirement for this particular website. I’d already took the job of manually rewrite all the titles and reorganize the categories.
