Positioning above share buttons?

Since the update to 1.8/1.8.1 the related posts block appears immediately after the single post content and above the share buttons at the bottom of a post.
Using version 1.7.17, the block with the share buttons (using Simple Share Buttons Adder) appears immediately after the single post content and then the related posts block appears after the share buttons but before the post footer meta (i.e. categories/tags).
Is this a deliberate choice to move the related posts block to the first available position after the single post content? If it is, can you please let me know what I need to change in your php code to move it back to its previous position?
