the pages that appear on the said category feed are made using the content builder, with the particular layout making left-hand-side images the tallest elements of the content area. The “read more” link, in turn, appears after the entire content area, which here is stretched as tall as its tallest element (i.e. the image). Hence the result.

In case you need the “read more” link to appear right below the text while still preserving an image, you might consider using thumbnails (“featured images”) instead of images inserted via the content builder.
