I just updated to Poseidon 2.0 for my class website from 1.9 and it totally screwed up the menus. Now there is a gigantic blue image of an X and a hamburger icon that serve no purpose just floating on top of my header and there are giant blue carat symbols floating down the page. My entire menu is showing up as a vertical column of bulleted items. I had to remove my menu from that location or it shoved everything way down the page. How do I restore the menus to the 1.9 version? This is a ridiculous update.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I am having the same problem.

How will this be fixed? I filled back to 1.9 yesterday, but of course an auto update hosed it again.

I just posted a message to Themezee on this, and will let you know if you here (I have the Pro license). You should have a recent email from them where they announce a new navigation system that flows throughout their themes.

    Hi there,

The navigation menu seems to work fine now on your website on https://eng101f20.davidmorgen.org/

We have completely rewritten the navigation menus to introduce various improvements. You can learn more about the update on https://themezee.com/2020/08/updates-for-improved-navigation-menus/

Broken menus are caused by caching and script minification plugins in almost all cases. The updates changes HTML, CSS and JavaScript. If you have a caching plugin active which delivers static HTML it can cause issues, because the CSS & JavaScript got updated, but the HTML is still the old version. You can fix that by clearing the cache of your WordPress caching plugin.

Same applies for minification plugins. If you have plugins active which minify CSS & JavaScript code into one file, you may have to manually reset these plugins so they regenerate their minified code. Otherwise you can end up with new HTML from version 2.0, but still old CSS & JavaScript.

Then the update should run smoothly.

    Best,
    Thomas

Hi Themezee, I am using Litespeed Cache. I have purged all the cache numerous times without success. The menus are still messed up. I use a lot of additional CSS to create the meu layout that I would like to have. What other solution can you offer please? I have rolled back to Poseidon 1.9 by installing a backup. My site menu does not look like it should when using Poseidon 2.0.

    Regards

    Hi Pat,

If you have custom CSS changing the default styling of the navigation menu you most likely have to remove that CSS and rewrite the menu again.

    Hello ThemZee,
how do I manually reset minification plugins so they regenerate their minified code? I use Autoptimize and Compress JPEG & PNG images for minification.
Since – I think yesterday – the header menu on my site https://www.baufrage.net/ doesn’t look like it should anymore.
    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,

It seems CSS is minified and loaded from cache by the WP Fastest Cache plugin, so please try to clear the cache for that plugin.

There are thousands of plugins out there, so I can’t tell you how every one can be resetted. You have to contact the plugin developer about that.

One alternative is to temporarily disable these plugins.

    Best,
    Thomas

I have no caching add ons, and have turned off Jetpack site accelerator. Yet I am still seeing the broken manu styling. Any other clues?

Can you please create a new topic and include the URL to your website so I can take a look? Without seeing it, it is hard to tell.

In case you’re using a child theme make sure that you adapt your modifications of the header.php template if you override it.
