Hello I’m trying to find a cheap/free way of adding in a credit card reader in my store, while using and syncing with woocommerce, without using square. Are there any other options? I already use www.remarpro.com and woocommerce and pay for that yearly to host. I would love to find a good way to keep that system and just simply add in a way to take payments that syncs my online and in store with that.

    Hi there,

Aside from Square, have you considered using this extension: https://woocommerce.com/products/point-of-sale-for-woocommerce/ ?

Hi I will try the free alternative. However does this offer a card reader that I can use in my store? I have a card reader from square, will it work for this or do I need a specific one that works with this plugin?

And how do I use this in my store with an ipad for checking out/transactions daily? Is there an app or is it just in the woocommerce app on my ipad?

Does WordPress POS $200/yr have some sort of card reader for it as well? I’d rather do that personally, if there’s a way to do so easily in store.

No, it does not include a card reader. You could look at Square’s card reader, though, for taking payments:
    https://squareup.com/us/en/hardware/reader

This will only handle payments, though, and maybe some Square inventory updates – you’d need to check with Square to understand exactly what happens on the Square side. On the Woo side, nothing would be updated. Your process would probably look like this:

    1. Set up order on your WooCommerce site
    2. Use a manual payment method like BACS (bank transfer) and rename it to Square card reader; when the customer clicks that, the order is added to Woo and set to on-hold.
    3. The customer would need to pay using the card reader. Once you’ve confirmed payment, change the order status to pending.

I used Square as an example here, but the process would be the same no matter which card reader you used. I believe PayPal also has an option for this.
