Portfolio – WPESP Theme
-
Hi, I’m Víctor García, a web designer and a WordPress fan, like you. I have created a Portfolio Theme powered by WordPress. It may be helpful for those who want to create a portfolio. You can see the tutorial at WPESP – WordPress Themes or the demo at Portfolio – WPESP Theme.
I hope it can help some of you.

And for beginners — what you need to do
1) find out page ID from all pages:
— work
— featured
— about
— contact
— any other page that you add(it is in a tutorial how you find that out, but usually works with clicking the “View” in WP administration panel and seeing the number in your address line)
2) change default number in following documents with the “your” numbers
— index.php
— header.php
— footer.php
— portfolio-custom-write-panel.php
— portfolio-panel.phpI think that’s all.
— Save the files and upload them again.
I think it should work.
This theme takes a bit of patience but it’s worth it ??
Hey, I have managed to get the contact form to work…after some little work, but here is how I managed:
1/ follow the instruction in the wpesp tutorial about cutting and pasting the text in cforms.php
2/Go to the cforms “Form Settings” Page. On this page, go to the part after where you can enter the form fields. There is a line saying:
Backup this form or restore previously saved settings:
You need to click on browse and go to your wpesp-portfolio folder…there is a file there called form-settings. Load it, and your form will now have the same settings as on the wpesp demo site.
3/ Go to the cforms “Styling” menu, and deactivate the css.
4/ Go to your contact page and change the permalink to “contact-us”
5/ Insert the “Contact Us” contact form in the contact page
You are ready to go! My pleasure ??
Hola Victor.
?Why not to avoid using category IDs in the functions?
Lots of people are having problems with names/ID correspondences and maybe it would be possible to use name references.Congratulations for your amazing work!
Beginner alert. I’m having trouble with . . . many things. Mainly with the About page. Wolfden’s post about changing ID numbers in index.php, header.php and footer.php has semi-worked for me in so much as the ABOUT link in the header now actually sends me to the default About page supplied when you first install WordPress.
But the page has no styling. And I have no idea how to make it look like Victor’s About page in the WPESP demo.
I don’t know any php and have really limited knowledge of html and CSS. I’m feeling like I have bitten off more than I could chew with WPESP. Can anyone help?
Ola Victor,
Tnx soo much for this friendly and great work.
Very much appreciated, just love the simplicity. It took me also a bit to find out and but can imagine you cant just write a whole book on how2 install and configure, and try to capture all the read between the lines and interpretations for everyone.
So thanx for this forum and all its posts to sort thinks out.I tried all options to get the About and Contact working described in this forum and finally got it.
What I did wrong was, I didnt leave the Contact and About page on the Default template. (I changed it myself to About/Contact template and then the headers were empty in the preview aka no style)
Plus the links didnt work.. obviously. So my steps in order to get it going was:
1.Follow all code swaps n things from WPESP site. YAY
2. Create also a Contact page in pages and leave the template on default, ‘About’ was already there.
Hover over preview or click to see the page ID. Then in footer, header and index change the (‘about’) to your ID number (2) and change the /about.php in the same line to /?page_id=2 (as 2 was my id for about).I did only the first ‘about’ in index.php and left the
TEMPLATEPATH . '/about.php'
untouched.Do the same obviously for all Contact ID’s.
3. Create the Contact page according to ‘revolutionfrance’ post.
Hope this helps
/me now on to styling – Happy camper!PS. Little tweaks I did also.
Embedded category view in portfolio_panel.php under title, in info section, and under sidebar in work.php
<?php the_category(',') ?>
wrapped in<h4>
Then added home link under next and previous links win work.php
<li><a href="<?php echo get_option('home'); ?>">HOME</a></li>
If you like.
I am installing this theme for my portfolio and love it! there is one thing I am trying to do and can’t figure it out.
I want to limit the number of posts on the home page (got that part) and then when you click on the work page you would see the rest of my portfolio. For example, I have the top 6 or 9 pieces of my portfolio and then when you click on the work page you can see the remainder of my work. It keeps the home page looking clean. Is it a matter of tagging entries differently? How can I set this up and direct that header link to a different page than the home page?thanks to anyone with advice
Hello all. First off, I’d like to start by saying what a great looking template this is. I, like everyone else on the forum can’t get the contact page to work. Could someone please explain from the very first step, what has to be done. it seems like a lot of posts have different explanations and are based on previous posts?
question about posting images.
The thumbnails (small and large) both need to be sized before uploading or does it take care of the croping and im just doing something wrong. write now my images look like they are squished. its just resizing not cropping them.
and for the detail page, where do i post that image.. in the post itself? or is the a link field like there is for the panels. cause right now i can only get the large image to show if i put in the actual post itself.
I am new to wordpress, but have managed to get the theme up and running with a great deal of help from this thread. However, I have yet to figure out how to limit the number of posts that show up on the main page… Basically what I want is for the main page to display the featured article, and then three thumbnails underneath. When you click on the work page, I want it to be a page displaying all my works, in the same thumbnail fashion as at the bottom of the main page. I do not need the featured article slider on the work page. Can anyone help me?
Thank you very much ??
Fantastic theme, almost got it fully working.
For my hCard settings it says: No Options for this Page
Any ideas why this may be?
Do I need to make a new post called hCard?
Would that get my options up in the hCard Post Settings?
Hello.
I was wondering of there are anyone out there who has some time to spare and good php skills?
I am trying to customize a WPESP theme for wordpress for my portfolio site. I did not have any understanding of php or css prior to me trying on a difficult theme… I have some html skills and together with some logical thinking, try and error and some help from Victor, the author, I have managed to learn and change many things. I can change the look of it myself, but the technical part is difficult.
Now I feel stuck and looking for some help from anyone of you guys – if there are someone who wants a challenge ?? At least I feel that it is a challenge…
Our site atm: https://www.aichandmokie.com/wp
My challenge:
Under the button Blogg I want to have a new blog with a sidebar that has Categories, Search and so on. I have managed to make it work by creating a category ‘blogg’ and link everything under the button to that one. But the customisation to get a regular blog layout working is difficult for me.Anyone willing to help?
Different problem.
I have installed the Lightbox 2 plugin, and it seems to override the Coda Slider effect. Is there something I can do to prevent this or is it just not possible to combine coda slider and lightbox?
