• For my website, I use the Portfolio shortcode, instead of the Portfolio template, in order to only show portfolio pieces in specific categories. But when I click on a specific project, the regular portfolio behavior shows below, and instead of more of whatever category I am showing, it just puts in every kind of portfolio entry. How can I change this behavior, so that it just shows the items in the same category…with the same coding? (I am building a child theme in my local environment, but it is not online yet…)

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there,

I can see the link you shared (dolmarvadesign.com/maps/) but I am not sure that I understand your issue. You are referring to what happens if I click on one of the items on that page such as this one? https://www.dolmarvadesign.com/portfolio/texas-wine-country-map/

When I visit that single portfolio project, I see that below the Texas Map is a few more listed under the “More Projects” section. This is the section you are referring to? You are asking can the output here be limited to only items in the “maps” project category, instead of showing other projects on your site?

    Thanks for clarifying.

Yes! Also, if you’l notice, on the Maps page the thumbnails are all complete versions of the maps, except in a few cases where I uploaded alternate thumbnails. But in the More Projects section, the thumbnails have been cropped to a specific horizontal size.

Alternatively, I would be happy to just have forward and back arrows pointing to the next and previous entries in that category…

    Okay, so on this page:
    https://www.dolmarvadesign.com/project-tag/maps/

The thumbnails are not cropped. Do you want them to be? Or did you not want them cropped on the More Projects page?

Alternatively, I would be happy to just have forward and back arrows pointing to the next and previous entries in that category…

Got it, so modifying the theme to show posts only within one category isn’t within the scope of support we can offer here. But, if you’re a developer, something along these lines may help you sort it out:

Hi, thanks. I do not want the thumbnails to be cropped. I will check out the link you shared. Thanks!
