    While we’re here…

Some of my images don’t display full width/size

It’s killing the presentation of my work.

    Hi Duane,

A page on my site (https://duanealawrence.com/portfolio) is giving a 404 Error, but the individual projects pages still seem to be working

As a first troubleshooting step, could you please navigate to Jetpack > Settings and then deactivate/re-activate the Custom Content Types module?

If the page isn’t displaying correctly after that, please try disabling each of your plugins (apart from Jetpack) one by one to test where there’s a conflict between one of them.

Let me know how you get on with that and we can then troubleshoot further.

Could you temporarily deactivate Jetpack’s Photon module to see if that fixes the issue? If there’s a conflict there then I’ll get this reported back to the team.

The Portfolio page is still on 404.

Thank you for confirming that this is a conflict with Jetpack’s Photon module. I was able to replicate on my own test site and have gone ahead to report back to the team. I’ll let you know when I hear back.

I inspected the very last two photos on the page you linked to and the issue seems to be that their original width is below 1100px. Can you go back to the editor for that page and double check the original sizes of those two images and that they’re set to display at their full size?

The Portfolio page is still on 404.

What version of Jetpack are you running on? Also, is this a recent error?

I found a similar report on Jetpack’s support forum from earlier today and had a chat with the Jetpack team.

They suggested navigating to Settings > Permalink in your admin area and then clicking “Save.” This will refresh your permalink rules and may resolve any issues that came from recent changes.

Let me know if that works out for you!

Hi. Thanks for your continued help.

All the images are 1600 px wide and set to full size, centered. For some reason those are the only two doing it.

I’m running Jetpack Version 4.1.1. Permalink did not help.

I don’t know exactly how long it’s been this way. I just noticed it yesterday.

I’m running Jetpack Version 4.1.1. Permalink did not help.

I’ve not been able to replicate on my own test site using the latest version of Jetpack (4.1.1) and Espied. This leads me to suspect that there is a conflict between one of the other plugins on your site.

Can you please try disabling all of your plugins with the exception of Jetpack and then navigate to Settings > Permalinks to re-save your permalink structure again?

If the page still leads to a 404 error, please search for any pages, posts, tag, category or other content on your site that may be named “portfolio.” If you find one, rename it and then try re-saving your permalink structure again. A shared slug could be the cause of the problem.

As a last suggestion: Try switching to one of the default themes, deleting Espied from your site, and then re-installing/re-activating the theme.

We can continue troubleshooting if those steps don’t help out.

I tried all of these suggestions. Still doesn’t seem to be working.
I don’t have access to change the “portfolio” extension as this is built into the theme.
    Thanks for the continued help.

The last two images on Drive Nation are still small as well.

About the portfolio slug, one of my colleagues noticed that the 404 page being displayed there is not the normal built-in WordPress 404 page, an example of which you can see here:

    https://duanealawrence.com/portfolio/sadfads

Could you please FTP to your server and see whether a folder called portfolio is present there? If there is, that might be causing this problem.

I’ll look at the image-size issue separately.

As Siobhan mentioned above, the last two images’ original sizes are too small to be displayed as intended:

    https://duanealawrence.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/driven9-840×420.jpg

Try uploading versions of those two images that are at least 1100px wide.

Thanks for the image advice. It is actually 1600px wide (https://duanealawrence.files.wordpress.com/2014/12/driven9.jpg), but it was set to display at Medium (300×150). On the Image Details screen it shows Full Size (1600×800) so I thought it was fine. I replaced it with the same exact image and noticed on the Replace Image screen it was set to Medium in the Display Image Settings. Not sure why those two settings aren’t in sync.

Trying the FTP for the 404 now.

Portfolio working! It was the /portfolio folder from my last site left over when I switched domains. Thank you!!
