    Hi,
I need help figuring out how do I correct this problem:
When I open my website, the portfolio’s images start overlapping and thus hiding some projects. When not overlapping, they take weird spacing. The layout becomes faulty.
The same error occurs when I open any project type.
    Has anyone resolved this issue?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there,

I don’t see this issue on your site at all.

This theme uses a masonry-grid layout for the project thumbnails, meaning it uses an algorithm to determine the best fit for the projects depending on the dimensions of the various featured images. So while initially loading the page for the first time after new content has been added, it’s normal to see some overlap while the theme figures out where to place each image, but once it finishes loading you shouldn’t see any further overlap.

If that’s not what’s happening for you, it could be that something in your browser is interfering with the loading process. Please try clearing your browser cache, and deactivate any browser add-ons you have installed to see if that makes any difference. Also check if the same thing happens if you use a completely different browser.

    Hi kokkie,

Thank you so much for your quick reply and help offer.
In the meantime, I have disabled my lazy loading on Jetpack and the cache plug-in “Swift Performance Lite” I had installed. It solved this problem nicely and I am glad you could not see any of this when loading my website.
On the other hand, this does leave me with less loading speed. I guess I’ll have to cope with it for now?

If you were using both Jetpack’s site accelerator features and a caching plugin that might explain this. I doubt Jetpack’s Lazy Load is the problem, though, as only images not visible on the screen at the time of loading are lazy-loaded, and your site currently has few enough projects that all the images load right at the start. So my guess is the caching plugin is interfering with how the masonry-grid’s algorithm works.

Have you tried enabling just one of those plugins without the other?

    Yes,
I’ve enabled just the lazy-loading and it actually showed some funny layout as well. I guess the website needs the whole page to know where projects go on the page.

Okay, I’ve managed to replicate this issue on my end, so I’ve reported it to our developers to investigate. I’ll update here once I hear back from them, but for now it looks like you’ll have to keep Lazy load images switched off.

    Alright, no problem.
Thanks so much! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for your update.
