• Hey all

I want to create an article preferably portfolio style.

    Top level PF
    – SUB PF
    – SUB PF
    – page
    – Blog

I want it all organised as a report or book.

I don’t have any succes’s with portfolio so far. I read tutorial, I watch video but my PF do not appear.

I have activated PF in the writing section and i have created Project pages and blogs.

I need basic step by step help for the top level PF page.

Theme is Gazette and I wonder if this is the obstruction?

I am new to WP but have experience with other CMS

    Thx ??

  • Once you activate Portolio in the Writing section, it enables a Custom Post Type called Portfolio. Under the CPT, there is an Add New function, where you add a new Portfolio item with Title, Post Body, Category, Featured Image, Excerpt, etc.

At this point, you should have an “archive” page with a running list of your Portfolio items, almost like a Blog landing page.

You can add the Portfolio section to your menu using Appearance > Menus. Once you set a menu for your primary navigation, it’s a simple as adding the main Portfolio page as your top level item, then adding each Portfolio item as your sub menu item, making sure to carefully click, hold, and drag your sub item slightly to the right of the the parent item to set an indent, so it’s a parent > child relationship in the nav menu.

P.S. You could also set a widget sidebar on your Porfolio pages and use JetPack’s show/hide feature to show the widget on on Portfolio child pages, so that you can have a widget list of Portfolio pages in the sidebar. You could feasibly show the widget only on Portfolio post type pages, so you can have a menu in the primary nav and a menu in your sidebar widget area.
