    1. Under settings/client portal, it says I can choose my portal template, but there is no option here to do this. Where is this setting, how can I edit the page template.

    2. The only thing I can edit is the portal welcome email, but this setting seems to be duplicated, as there is also a portal email under “emall templates”.
However the one under settings/client portal is blank, the one under mail templates is not, what is the difference and which one am I meant to use?

    3. Also how can I put the client’s name/company in the email?
    i.e.
    Dear Joe Blogs,

There doesn’t appear to be any shortcode for this.

    4. I already have my WordPress set to send out email through SMTP, and every other plugin which sends emails, uses those settings.
However I note that ZEROBS says it will use wp_mail, does this mean it is going to ignore my existing SMTP settings?

    Hi @lordsnake

Thanks for using our CRM and asking these very good Qs, comments below

1.) The Portal Template wording, saying “choose your template” is not quite right, the style templates are included in Client Portal Pro and the wording shouldn’t mention them unless you have Client Portal Pro in our bundle (It’s currently in Beta available to our Entrepreneur Bundle customers)

    https://zerobscrm.com/extension-bundles/

2.) Yes, the settings are incorrectly duplicated, this is being fixed this week (Friday’s release all going to plan), the correct place is in the System Email Templates.

3.) You can use place holders, #fname# for the Client Name.

4.) A good question, ZEROBS has its own SMTP settings, this is because, when used with Mail Campaigns you may want to send broadcasts out from a different account, so it allows you to enter multiple SMTP accounts for that purpose.

IF your plugin filters wp_mail and replaces with SMTP, then even though ZBS says it is using wp_mail, your other plugin may over-ride this and it ends up going out via the SMTP of that plugin – a good question though, Woody is in charge of the SMTP so I’ll flag this Question for him to cover in the knowledgebase.

If you have any further Qs, please do send them through to [email protected]

    I tried using #fname# and also #sname# #company#
    I also tried ###fname###

But it just outputs the placeholder exactly as typed instead of replacing with the actual data.

Is there no way to edit the portal page that won’t cost $199? It looks like a real mess by default, the form on the profile page is all over the place.

    @lordsnake,

Where have you tried using those placeholders? These work in the welcome email, and the email template editor, which is where I presume Mike intended you to use them.

Re: Portal page not looking great – this is likely depending on your theme styling. It is impossible for us to get this to look amazing (out-of-the-box) with all of the 100,000+ themes out there. In all, Zero BS CRM provides a huge amount of functionality for free, and we’re happy that we’re giving more than we’re taking in the situation. We’re only into win-win business though, and so do have to charge for some upgrades otherwise we’d never legitimately be able to support such a large project for the free users as well as the paid.

Mike will be back later today (he’s travelling a lot), and will give you more input on the portal direction.

    All the best

I am using them in the email template. And when I test the email, it just has the placeholder in it.

I understand you want to make money, me too. But at the moment I do not need any of the add-ons, I just am just testing it out and only need basic functionality to store details about clients, of which I do not have many yet, so $199 is a bit rich for me at this stage just to be able to edit the portal page.

In some of the other solutions I have tried, the portal is just a regular page, and just uses shortcodes to display the portal content, so is fully editable.

Looking at our code, currently these are the placeholders which work in the Portal welcome email (which I presume you’re modifying):

    • ###TITLE###
    • ###FROMNAME###
    • ###PORTALBUTTON###
    • ###PORTALLINK###
    • ###PORTALURL###
    • ###LOGINBUTTON###
    • ###LOGINLINK###
    • ###LOGINURL###

… but you’re right – it makes total sense to include all of the contact fields in there as placeholders. I’ve added this to our feature request list and we’ll add this in as soon as possible.

We don’t mean to pressurise you into buying anything, we’ve 800+ people using the CRM and only a part of those buy anything from us. We’re happy if you’re just using the wp.org plugin, really.

Re: Portal pages – Mike (other co-founder) has actually now added these for you, (they were another feature request from a few other users). These’ll go out in the next update (Friday probably). So please do check those out!

    All the best

    Thanks for the info.
I have updated to the latest version today, but cannot see any change with portal settings or a portal page I can edit. Is there something else I need to do in order to enable this?

    Hi @lordsnake,

Mike here, the Client Portal Shortcode released has been pushed back to this Friday (29th).

While it is working fine standalone, we needed to run some more tests with Client Portal Pro, Awesome Support (you can now see Tickets on the Portal) and Invoicing Pro (handling payments via PayPal and Stripe)

All going to plan – it’ll be available in the next update Friday as well as Client Portal Pro being officially released too.

    any news yet?

    Hi @lordsnake,

Client Portal Pro went out this week, here’s the link: https://zerobscrm.com/product/client-portal-pro/

The Portal included in the core plugin now runs from a shortcode (as of version 2.89+)

    Marking this one as resolved.

It still doesn’t look any different to me i’m afraid. No page has been generated with the shortcode you mention. What is the shortcode, and how do I override the default portal page?

    Hi @lordsnake

It should have generated you a page.

Please do submit a ticket at the link below, we will handle it there (not here)
