• I have a bunch of sites I am developing that I want to use the wordpress multisite function. I am getting mixed results with the answers I am finding about individual sites users. I am going to use my server and my cpanel to create each site under it’s own cpanel account. The reasoning behind this is that I may want to sell or give away some sites in the future that are part of my network. Is it possible to split off additional sites in the network to stand alone sites and they keep the users registered to that site? I want to make sure I am going down the correct path with this. The reason behind multisite is I will be using some very expensive commercial plugins that are usable across a WP network but not an unlimited individual site license. If I need to give or sell a site I want it to be as easy as a cpanel account transfer and domain re-point, then just have the recipient purchase a new license for the plugins at that point. Am I on the right path and is this possible with WP network and users staying with the site they registered on?

  • Hi
have you solved your problem? as far as I understand, the users in a WP multisite are all stored in a single table, and access to a sub site is managed by information stored in user meta table.

You may export all users of a sub site and import it to a standalone WP site in the future. the user ID may change after the import. you may use a plugin such as WP All Import to map the posts to users by user name.
