Portability

I have set up WordPress. There are some teething problems but I am really just at the start of what seems to be a struggle with a behemoth!

If WordPress is not the “best” or “easiest” to achieve what I am looking for what becomes of the writing that I get it to store for me? Is it relatively easily extracted from the MySQL database into other formats, systems etc? I have some bad experiences of losing the valuable stuff (the data) when transferring across devices, systems etc and don’t want to get locked in.

Am I worrying unecessarily?
