  • Hi Fiona,

The SPF looks good, although the extra + symbols threw me off for a second! Valid, but redundant. ??

Just for simplicity, shall we rule out the fallback server for a moment and focus on the primary SMTP? Are you using smtp.office365.com on port 587? Here are the settings for Office 365 SMTP in case you’ve not got them handy – these work pretty reliably:

    • Outgoing Mail Server Hostname: smtp.office365.com
    • Outgoing Mail Server Port: 587
    • Envelope-From Email Address: your Office 365 email address
    • Security: STARTTLS
    • Authentication: Login
    • Username: your Office 365 email address
    • Password: your Office 365 email password
    • It is important to note that if you try and set a different email address under Message > Email Address, your outgoing emails are likely to be rejected by Microsoft and fail. This will normally produce an error message.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

      Kind Regards,
      Tim

    Hi Tim.

ok, sounds good… but not working for me:0(

in Post SMTP set up all is correct

    Outgoing Mail Server Hostname: smtp.office365.com
    Outgoing Mail Server Port: 587
    Envelope-From Email Address: [email protected]
    Security: STARTTLS
    Authentication: Login
Username: your Office 365 email address – as above
Password: your Office 365 email password – typed and checked

I am getting success messages but no mail at this time. I have checked with gmail, hotmail and the domain on office 365. nothing on the last tests, even though the test said success.

I have contacted Hostgator.com on this and they said they would take a look at my DSN and correct errs. they also noted an issue with my 365 account…. so maybe that is the issue.
    I will keep you posted.

    Hi Fiona,

Yes, please do keep us posted – it would be interesting to know what problems HostGator found. It may help others in the future too. ??

    response from hostgator
    Upon review of the account:

This is a known error that is currently being investigated by our Developers to locate the root cause, as well as a solution. Due to this, we do not have an exact ETA as to when this will be resolved.
In the mean time, if you would like to continue receiving emails and being able to send, we suggest pointing the MX record back to your HostGator account.

Thank you for your help Tim.
not resolved but I think I found where the issue lies.

    Hi Fiona,

Apologies for the delayed response. I’m glad you got a reply from HostGator – that’s really interesting. Please do let us know what the outcome was, even if it is not specific to PostSMTP. It might be helpful for other forum users in the future.

Can I go ahead and mark this thread as resolved, as we have deemed that the plugin is not at fault here?

    Kind Regards,
    Tim
