"PopUp shown less than" meaning

  • Hi there,

    I am a bit confused by the meaning of the condition:

    “Shows the PopUp if the user has only seen it less than a specific number of times.”

    – Is this a way to ensure that a specific visitor only sees the popup X number of times and then won’t see it again ?

    – Does it work like a cookie where if the visitor clears their cache it will re-start ?

    – Does it work for any visitor or is it just for logged in users ?

    I’m basically wanting *any* site visitor to see the popup only once, without having to deploy the ‘never see this message again’ text.

    Hey there David,

    Hope you’re well today!

    “PopUp shown less than” is applied for both visitors and logged in users. Popup counter is stored in a cookie so using different browser or clearing cookies will reset it and display the popup agian.

    There are different conditions like “Visitor is logged in” and “Visitor is not logged in” which allows you to display popup for visitors or logged in users only. You can find those conditions when creating/editing popup in Displaying Conditions (optional) field https://screencast.com/t/Kai5uEiT.

    Thanks for confirming this condition is for both visitors and logged-in users.

    BTW I know how to set conditions and I have 2 conditions already.

    My question is: if I set “Shows the PopUp if the user has only seen it less than a specific number of times.”

    to 1 (ONE);

    Does that mean a visitor who has seen the popup once, WON’T see it again (unless they clear browser cache) ?

    Or do I need to set it to: TWO

    Yes 1 is the number you’re looking to add there ??

    Does that mean a visitor who has seen the popup once, WON’T see it again (unless they clear browser cache) ?

    Unless they clear browser cache & cookies or simply use different browser or for example Chrome incognito they will see the popup only once.
