Popup links not working

I’m trying to insert a text link that opens in a popup window in a Page. Using the Insert/Edit link dialog in the editor, I add the URL and popup window details. When I save the Page, the popup properties are all stripped and the link opens as a regular text link. I’m using the WYSIWYG editor that ships with WP. Do I have to edit the editor configuration to allow specific attributes? I just assumed this worked out of the box…
