PopUp and images

I am using the PopUp by Supsystic plugin and it works well, but the shortcode provided will not link to my image properly. I have an image in a post that I would like to link it to and the directions say it is possible to just link the shortcode as the url, but it isn’t working. I know that I should probably go to the plugin support forum, but I was wondering if there was a plugin or work around that could achieve what I am looking for. Ideally I would like a thumbnail gallery or carousel plugin that can open up to a lightbox of information/Image. I would then like to embed that into text via a short code. I have tried various ones. This one is the best I have seen: https://tympanus.net/codrops/2011/08/16/circular-content-carousel/ but the plugin upload of the zip keeps failing to install.

My next approach was to use a pop up app, but I ran into this issue. If someone could help soon that would be great.
