    Hi softwaregeek,

    thanks for reaching out.

    > Why then an plugin for an pupup ad?

You can use Advanced Ads to manage any ad code, banner ad, or custom HTML. AdSense is just one of the many use cases.

AdSense updated their policy about sticky ads last year and lifted the general ban on them. You can use the PopUp add-on to create sticky ads that comply with AdSense as well.

If you have further questions about sticky or popup ads then please reach out directly through customer support since this forum is for topics related to the Advanced Ads base plugin only.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

However, when I create a popup advertisement, I get the message that this is in violation of the Adsense rules.

AdSense published this page last year which describes under which conditions a sticky ad can be used.

Advanced Ads is not able to detect how the sticky or popup is actually behaving on your site and if it is doing that according to the AdSense guidelines. In my experience, most of our users use the PopUp add-on to show a “real” popup that covers the content. This is definitely against the AdSense guidelines so I decided to keep the warning for popups in place.

    Best regards,
    Thomas
