I’m missing something. Probably something small.

The popup loads, but the site doesn’t load behind it. Once the popup closes the site loads.
I thought it could be theme, so I tried it with another theme on a different server and had the same issue.

How do I get the popup to load on top of the site?

  • Hello @keeperbay:

Without a url to inspect, it could be any number of things that’s causing the problem.

Here’s a quick guide to get started in building your popup. If the guidance doesn’t work, please respond back with a url on which the popup is activated. Please be sure to activate the plugin, and set your popup to ‘status: published’.

This is the demo site: https://barefootmarket.com/

On the live site I had to deactivate the plugin until the issue is fixed.
The live site and the demo site have different themes, different plugins and are on different servers located in different countries.

The demo site is using the default theme and only the popup plugin – same issue.

    Hello @keeperbay:

Great content on your test popup (LMAO!).

The reason that you’re seeing that white background behind the popup container is because our plugin is displaying an ‘overlay’ layer.

Popup Maker inserts 2 ‘screens’ in front of the page content. These screens are controlled by a CSS property called the ‘z-index’ value. The white background screen is called the ‘overlay’ layer. The color and opacity (color density) are controlled in ‘Popup Maker’ >> ‘Popup Themes’ >> {select-one-of-6-themes-by-name} | Edit >> Overlay Settings.

Whether to allow (enable) the overlay setting on your popup is controlled in the actual Popup Maker Admin. Below the popup content editor, find ‘Display Settings’ >> ‘Overlay’ >> ‘Disable Overlay’. There’s an unchecked checkbox there with a description “Checking this will disable and hide the overlay for this popup.”.

By default, the checkbox is unchecked. Which means that the overlay is enabled, or will show. The value for the overlay is pulled in from the popup theme that’s assigned to the popup. Simply check the checkbox and update the plugin to remove the overlay layer. Or go back to your popup themes setting and change the color and opacity of the overlay layer to your liking.

    And that….is that!

    Enjoy ;-)!

Well, I feel stupid – When I read the directions I took overlay to mean an overlay on top of the popup. (like a gif of ducks walking across the bottom of the popup to draw more attention to it.) – this makes much more sense. That did it!

Glad you enjoyed my pop up message.
    Thank you.
