• Hi – I just converted my website to WordPress, and before I realized what the Media Library was, I setup all my media the way I had in the past. I have separate folders for graphics, audio, and video, and I use url’s pointing to those locations in html tags and xml playlists. Everything seems to be working correctly, but I realized that none of these files show up in my Media Library.

Is there a way to add existing media to the Media Library without re-uploading everything and re-writing all my pages and playlists?

And is there any major disadvantage to bypassing the Media Library as I have it now.

    Many thanks!

  • You would definatly have to re-upload them all, as when you do an entry is created in the wp_posts table – that is what the media library looks at when it populates.

From there you would likely need to do some substansial re-writing as the way the media is called would be very different, but that is difficult to say without knowing your code.

    Thanks.
