Populating custom fields

I have the post add-on. I have a events calendar and I want to create a form with the date time etc.. about 17 different fields. I then want to use the information to populate the custom fields in post.
If I just create the custom field from the post selection menu I don’t get the option of the input type (date,time,URl…etc)
