I’m receiving an applet popup that is coming up on my site. This just started happening today. I’ve deleted my posts from today to see if that would solve it, but to no avail.

The popup says: An applet from “advancedqualitysystem.com” is requesting access to your computer. The digital signature could not be verified. When I hit Deny, it keeps popping up and only when I go to my website. When I close out of my website it goes away. I have not gone to that site, nor had I ever even heard of it before.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

Great……. ?? Thank you for supplying these links. I will try to do what I can will look into hiring someone to help with the rest as someone else created my site who is no longer available.

The first thing I saw to do was to change my password, but I’ve been told by my site creator that it is not an easy task and that it has to be done on the back end. Do you know of any easy step-by-step direction to change the password?

Also, my site backed up last night. Everything was fine then. Can I restore back to last night? Would that fix it?

Yes. I was told that couldn’t just be “changed” easily.

Uh!? It’s a piece of cake to change it! Just go to your Profile (via the Users sub-menu) and scroll down to the lower half of that page.

Ok. I will do that. Since my site backed up last night, can I just restore it? Will that take away the hack?

No – that is by no means a guarantee of removing the hack or any back-doors. Please work through the resources I listed above.

The offending code will probably be located at the first line of the theme’s index.php.

Where the code is located is of no real significance. All of the resources I listed above should still be worked through to completely remove the hack from a site.

I’m working with Sucuri now to get this fixed. Jeffkwong, you may want to look into this as well, although you may be better at getting your site figured out than I am. Sucuri indicated they can get the malware removed in minutes.

Awesome! I am now dealing with the same thing.

This is why I cant have nice things. Can’t do updates because then all the plugins get squirly with eachother.
