I spent a considerable amount of time working with this widget but now the weather comes in and out. I have it set to grab locations based on geolocation and even a fallback ip address location. Unfortunately every other day I come in the dashboard does not show any information. I am in the same location, so it should be pulling the same information. I have also checked the data I am passing to it and it spits out the correct format and everything.

My question would be how can we fix this or possibly use a different information database. If I can’t get this working I will have to either edit this massively or use a different plugin.

Also if you are interested I do have the code that you can use to get the users location. It’s not polished but I heard other people asking for it.

I am working on a Premium version right now that pulls in the weather from the users location and a few other nice items. I do have plans for the premium version to pull data from different weather sources.

Openweathermaps is nice because you don’t have to sign up for anything to use it, it’s a free source. Most other places will want you to sign up before it works which is an extra step for the regular user and would probably keep people from using the plugin all together.

You may want to incorporate the OpenWeatherMaps APPID.

This will be an option in the premium version because they say “we can guarantee availability and accuracy of weather data”.

Do you have any type of Transient clearing plugin installed? The weather data is stored in a transient and maybe there is a conflict.

Well that is good news. I am not using anything like that. Thanks for the link and I wish you the best of luck with the premium widget.

For anybody checking out this post. Here is how you can find the City ID and hopefully get some better reliability in your weather data:

Also the PRO version is available with more goodies:
