So far I am really liking this plugin. Does what I need. HOWEVER, I already have my thumbnails at the size and resolution I want them. Why does the plugin insist on re-crunching them. They get fuzzy and look really unprofessional.

I read one post where a guy had to go into FTP to fix this. Is there any possibility that you all will just fix this issue soon? I don’t want to have to go through the FTP part. Can you make an option to use original thumbnails? Or set your cruncher to crunch less?

Otherwise, I can’t use your cool plugin.

    Hope to hear back soon,
    Thanks,
    G

  • DId you ever figure out this problem? I am having the same issue.

    Thanks.

    Hi both,

Sorry for the late reply. We have been checking to see an example to this, but we couldn’t replicate the issue. We only have a theory.

Our theory is that the plugin slightly lowers the image quality when caching images, for load speed purposes and all, and probably this is what bothers you. But we want to make sure with an example in action. Please let us know with a link if you still have this issue. We’d need to investigate this.

As an optional solution, we can consider adding a “no-cache” option for future updates.

I’m having the same issue. Using this in my sidebar and the images are getting extremely fuzzy. One image I’m uploading is a png of 320×250. Is there a way around this?

I don’t have this working on my site because of the image quality so I’m not able to show you a sample.

    Thanks

We’re planning to add an option for this issue on our next release this week. We have been working on a major update that improves many things all at once so it took some time. Next in our queue is this exact issue. Hopefully with the next update, we’ll either have an option to avoid caching so no lowering the quality, or to adjust quality manually.

Thanks, I’ll look for the update.

    Hi,

We’re releasing an update in a few days, so hang in there.

As for the image quality issue, we’ve noticed that we’re already using 100% quality in the slider script. Our possible scenario which might have been causing the quality drop is this:
    1. You define a fixed width/height in the widget settings. (this resizes the images to the smaller size defined)
    2. And then you check “responsive”. (this stretches the images to fit the sidebar)
With this combination, the sidebar is showing the scaled down images with a slightly scaled up responsive settings.

Can you check this? When you’re using “responsive”, you don’t need to define width height, or if you do, make sure your width/height are both bigger than your area in the sidebar.

We’re waiting to hear about this if the problem persists.

I’ve tried it just as you said, without setting the dimensions or checking responsive. Still poor image quality

    Thanks

Hi John, can you email me your site link and if possible admin login to check? email is pm weptile com

I decided to go another route with this. I couldn’t have this active on our site. I’m also not comfortable giving access.

    Thanks anyway

    Hi John,

I’m sorry we couldn’t get the new version ready before you went away. I completely understand your concern about the access (eventhough it’s our job to help WP users)

Please give our plugin another chance by the end of this month ?? The plan is it’ll fix all of the issues on support forum here.

Thanks, I’ll take a look at it then.
