it seems that the domain you gave does not to exist.

Thanks for your reply Chouby, the site had some hosting issues indeed. We have it back online, but cannot seem to get our static front page to work, although both in reading and in the menus everything seems to be correct. Do you prefer a new support item or can we handle it here?

Did you translate your static front page in all languages (and correctly linked it to the front page declared in settings->reading)?

hi Chouby, that is all done correctly. What I noticed is that on the page I set as static front page, the permalink is https://www.thesouffleur.com and I cannot change that. When I try to view the page it goes to https://www.thesouffleur.com/en/ and shows the dynamic page with posts instead. At the polylang setttings I had:
URL modifications: the language is set from the content
If I change that to “The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks” then it works, but the permalink created is thesouffleur.com/en/en/ so if we can fix that, then I will be 100% happy ??

Did you name your static front page “en”? You must not. You can call it “home” or whatever you want but must not use a language code as it is already used internally by Polylang.

If you want to get https://www.thesouffleur.com/en/ as frontpage url, check the option:
The front page url contains the language code instead of the page name or page id
