Hi there, I am using Bravada theme and Polylang free version. The default language is Dutch and translation is English. The language switcher is in the menu. I can switch from Dutch to English then, but whenever I use the menu to switch to another english page, it jumps first back to Dutch. Switching again to English and then I can see the english page. That’s very annoying to use. Am I doing something wrong? Any help very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • I have the same problem!! I tried so many things but I don’t know how to make it work. I use Astra Child theme. I hope there is a solution!

I switched the default language from Dutch to English. It still switches always back to Dutch when I change a menu tab. So it’s not about the default language. Makes it even more confusing.

I’m even wondering if what we want is possible with this plugin. I’ve seen many of the same questions, all unresolved… One thing someone said was that for it to work all pages should be translated, I can’t translate my webshop as of yet to English, so maybe that could be a reason for me. Are all your pages translated?

The pages are all translated, but not all posts yet. I will translate the last posts in english, just creating the the post with the english flag, guess it’s not relevant if the content is dutch or english.

Hello, I’m a new member of the forum and I’d like to share my experience with you.
I too had a problem regarding the menu.
Let me make a reply, even though it may not be helpful.

    1) Is the “Do not display language information for default language in URLs” checked in the Polylang settings? I have found that if I unchecked it, I was able to transition normally. (This setting changes the URLs a bit.)

    (2) Is each page displayed in translated German? If so, you may be able to transition successfully by creating a new page in English and assigning the language status “English” to that page.

    I hope it works.

Hi takoudon, thanks for your comments.
    1) Language in the URL is hidden, “Remove /language/ in pretty permalinks” it is called in my setup.
    2) The default language is NL-Netherlands, translation is EN.
All pages are translasted in english.

Even when I change the default language to EN-English, it jumps back to NL-Netherlands, every time I am using the menu.
I guess it is because the main frontpage is ending with nl, aila-lichtdrager.nl.

hey .. anyone found out how to resolve this? thanks!

It may be that you need to delete all pages (appearances – menus) from the menus of the languages you are having this issue with. Then adding the correct pages, with the correct languages, to each menu.

@diarog you’re right. I created a new “English” menu and it works! Thanks

@diarog thank you so much! The problem could be solved in the end just with creating a ne english menu.
