• Hello! I’m using Polylang 2.3.4 and after a lot of troubleshooting I have arrived at the conclusion that Polylangs redirection to the default language causes a very slow TTFB on the front page.

When typing “www.mysite.com” it redirects to “www.mysite.com/en” and this redirection takes several seconds.

Is there a solution to this? I have PHP 5.3 on my server. Does it help to upgrade to the lates PHP version?

I have “The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks” selected. It does not seem to help to change it to “The language is set from content”.

I have a similar problem. Here’s how it shows in pingdom tools:

    Hi,

You can avoid the redirect by deactivating the detection of the browser preferred language and hiding the language code in the url for the default language. If your site is still slow, use a cache plugin.

    Hi Chouby,
I am already using WP Super Cache. I need language slugs in URL for SEO reasons. However, it seems like only disabling browser language detection did the trick.
