Polylang language selection crash

  • When I activate Polylang, my site (birthdoulajerusalem.com) crashes – Internal Server Error + 500 Internal Server Error. (No problem accessing the site when I deactivate.)

    I think it may be due to the options I checked or unchecked in the dashboard because the first time my site crashed, I fixed it by checking one of the polylang options in the dashboard, but it crashed again when I tried to select one of the languages.

    Is my theme(Bouquet)compatible? Polylang has .po and .mo files for the languages I need – Do I have to pick a translation-ready theme?

  • Yes a translation ready theme is mandatory (this is the case for Bouquet). I did not make a deep test but it is most probably compatible. However languages files are not supplied with the theme so you will either have to find them on the internet (I found them for French) or translate it yourself. The .mo files supplied with Polylang are for the Polylang admin only.

    Regarding the error 500, I never experienced this myself but according to google, it seems that it can have many causes:
    * Memory issue: try deactivating other plugins.
    * plugins conflicts: same as above
    * php version: I guess you are using PHP5
    * file permissions (to be checked)
    * bad .htaccess
    maybe other causes…
