Polylang & Headway Themes – issue with Single Post layout
-
WP 3.7.4 – Headway 3.7.10 – Polylang 1.5.5
Have searched, but can’t find similar issue. Issue persists with all other plugins deactivated, so compatability issue between Headway Theme & Polylang.
Posted this to Headway Support:
Have been turning exisiting HW 3.6.3 site into 3-language site using Polylang. After getting my head round how it all hangs together, it’s been an interesting project. However … have now run into an issue with the Layout Templates – everything works as expected except the ‘Single Post’, and ‘Archive Date’ layouts.
Description of issue:
Each language has its own Layout Templates. Whichever language is active in the browser, when going into VE, you get that language’s pages/templates. I’ve set up new LTs for each of two post categories ‘News’ and ‘Case Studies’. This has allowed me to change the text for ‘Continue Reading’ and the meta labels to match the language. So far so good.
Now I want to do the same for ‘Single Post’ and ‘Archive Date’. I set these up in English (cloning the ‘News’ archive layout) and made some minor changes to the display.
When I go to the French and German VE ‘areas’, the layouts for ‘Single Post’ and ‘Archive Date’ already exist – this didn’t happen with the ‘News’ and ‘Case Study’ categories. When I look at the pre-existing layouts, they are actually the English layout. I know this because of the block alias, and if I change the meta labels to French, when I look at the English site, the single post meta labels are now in French!
I’ve tried resetting the layouts, adding new blocks etc., but ALWAYS there is only one ‘Single Post’ layout template, shared by the three languages.
Thinking this might be a bug in 3.6.3 I upgraded to 3.7.10 – no change. So, why can I create language-specific layout templates for categories but not single posts or date archives?
And is there a fix?

Got this reply from Headway Support after I gave them Admin access to the site:
Hi David,
I can definitely see what you mean. Having never used the plugin myself, I’m not in a great position but it looks like there is a compatibility issue with this plugin and Headway. I can add it to the issues list for us to look into but something you could do is tell the plugin developer of the issue.
There are over 30,000 plugins so it is easier for the plugin developer to be compatible with a major theme framework. If the plugin developer believes the issue is on our end and can point to something specific we can look into, have them contact us directly. If they need a copy of Headway to test, we’d be happy to provide that as well.
Other info requested:
