    Hi there,

First of all I wanted to say thank you to the development team about the job done !

I’ve been using Polylang for a little while and I’m glad it exist and has been though as simply and good.

So coming to my issue :

I was using polylang v2.0.9 on a website (https://fablaboo.com/accueil) since about Tuesday 22/11/16, everything was working great. Main language is French, translated is english.

Then on Saturday morning, I tried to connect to my website and saw this error screen :

    error max_user_connections Polylang Fablaboo

So I tried to disabled all plugins one by one, and finally found out that this “max_user_connections” message was only on when polylang was on.

A screenshot from OVH backoffice showing the http connections hits :

    Hits

Could it be a volontary brute force attack ?

This is the list of my active pluggins, but one more time, I’ve test all separatly and the website is block only when I reinstall polylang.

I’ve tried with the 2.0.8 version and the same problem appear. So I’ve unsetup the plugin for now.

Any help will be very welcome. This website is a customer project and I need to end it up soon.

    Thanks forward guys !

    AK

The incompatibility came from the plugin Autoptimize 2.1.0

    & wp supercache settings

& wich W3 Total Cache in fact …

that is _very_ weird akdigital84; autoptimize merely aggregates JS & CSS and makes no HTTP-connections in and of itself …

this would only make sense if polylang’s JS somehow is affected by it being autoptimized (aggregated with other JS & minified) and if in that case polylang’s JS makes (a lot of) extra (AJAX) requests to the server. if that would be the case, you would likely have seen functional problems with polylang when running concurrently with autoptimize, did you?

anyway; if this is the case, the easiest solution would be to disable JS autoptimization and the best solution would be to exclude polylang’s JS from optimization.

    hope this helps,

Thanks for your answer Franck, sincerly I’ve no idea, i’m not a developper, but when I activate Autoptimize alone with Polylang I get the same max_user_connections error as I get with the cache plugins :/

when I activate Autoptimize alone with Polylang I get the same max_user_connections error as I get with the cache plugins :/

that’s bad … hope the polylang guys & girls can help you, because not being able to run any page-caching or js/css optimization plugins will severely impact your performance.

    Hi!

I just tested Autoptimize on a local install with Twenty Sixteen, Polylang and a few other plugins. I activated the optimization for html, js and css and everything seems to work correctly.

I just noticed this warning in debug mode:
PHP Warning: preg_replace_callback(): Compilation failed: internal error: previously-checked referenced subpattern not found at offset 30 in /autoptimize/classes/external/php/yui-php-cssmin-2.4.8-4_fgo.php on line 274

Thanks for the feedback Chouby. I checked the php errorlog on some of my installs and don’t see that PHP warning. Based on some websearching it seems to relate to a known (older) issue in specific packaged (dotdeb .deb) version of PHP (cfr. e.g. https://forge.typo3.org/issues/67048).

Did you also test with WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache (as @akdigital84 mentioned those trigger the max_user_connections as well)?

No. I did not test them recently. Only yours because I never tested it before.

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for you investigations.

I’ve disabled All cache and minimizing plugins on my first site for the moment, didn’t want to loose my dual language customisation I had made with Polylang.

I come back to notice you that i’ve made a new website installation for an other customer. This one is a multi-site with multi domain.

I’ve installed WP cache, Autoptimize and few others :

And surprisingly I get this error message again, on the debug console :

Please note that i’m hosting my websites on mutualised servers at 1&1 (don’t think it has an impact).

this, as far as I can see, is unrelated to your earlier problem and seems specific to polylang really (i.e. not related to AO/ WPSC).

    Hey Franck,

Exactly, not linked with the website concerned in my first post, it’s a new project (but same issues).

I wanted to precise that the error messages desapear as soon as I desactivate Polylang plugin.

And I’m using the Theme AVADA 5.0

Problem fixed for now, after installing last updates of Polylang.

A big thanks to the developpers !
