Polluted description tag

  • This one is really odd. This is now my meta description tag:

    <meta name=”description” content=”Digg this post Recommend on Facebook Buzz it up Share on Linkedin Share on technorati Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this post Tell a friend” />

    Those are the exact options I have specified in my interactive share icons. I have made no PHP edits. How in the world is this happening?

  • my guess:
    the meta description is using the excerpt of the posts;
    and your interactive share icon plugin is possibly adding itself into the beginning of the excerpt, possibly using a filter function.

    without knowing all details, such as the download link of the plugin, and the code of the meta description, there is one suggestion:

    try to find a different way to generate the meta description; or find a different share plugin.
