• My theme is Andreas04 2.0. I want to add Poker Room affiliate and maybe other affiliates to my sidebar. How do I do that? I put the code in the sidebar but it doesn’t show up.

    Can you help?

    OK, what specifics?
    Well, my website is canwetalk.ceconn.com
I was able to install the Google Adsense with no problem because WordPress had a widget to put in the sidebar. That done, I wanted to install PokerRoom. I put the code right under the Adsense code but the PokerRoom code does not show up.

Why is that and what am I doing wrong?

I see that you have a text widget with the title of “Affiliates”. However, that widget appears to be empty, with no content. Same goes for the “Sponsors” titled text widget.

Did you paste the code into that widget and then save the widget changes? Check the widget again, see if your code is still there.

what’s the code you’re trying to add? (nothing shows up on the generated source)

I don’t even know what I did nor when. All I know is that I’ve been trying for the best part of the week to show banner ads in my sidebars. I had no trouble putting it into my main site. ceconn.com. That’s because it’s written in simple html. The PokerRoom banners show up great. However, my blog is a different matter. It’s written in php and divided into sections or whatever you call it. There’s the stylesheet.css. Then the various pages.php. You know what I mean.

I can’t figure out why my PokerRoom ad doesn’t show up.

OK, then I downloaded OpenAds because I read where that’s the thing to do. OK, it’s on my server and I have the MySQL done. However, I can’t seem to open the Installer. It’s supposed to pop up when I type ceconn.com/openads but the only thing that happens is my blog opens up. That would be “canwetalk”. So, you type ceconn.com/openads and you get canwetalk.ceconn.com

I wanted a heading called Affiliates or Sponsors and under that show banner ads. What can I do to make that happen?
    I’m running XP, WP2.06, Andreas04-10 theme.

have you tried to just add the banner code directly to your sidebar (or whereever it is in the template that you’re wanting to add it)?

    Go to the widgets page.
    Put in a text widget.
Inside that widget, put your straight HTML code.
    Done.

It’s just that simple. You don’t have to get all complicated with it. You don’t have to edit PHP files.

My host helped me with the Installer for Openads, so that’s there.

Tried putting the code into the widget.
Well, that didn’t quite work either. I was thrilled for a minute there. I do see a long white column the size of the ad but no writing. Under “And Now A Word From Our Sponsors”
    canwetalk.ceconn.com

Okay, I see PHP code in the source of your page. Something called “phpAdsNew”.

You cannot paste PHP code into a text widget. That won’t work. I thought you said this was straight HTML code?

If you need to use PHP code in a widget, then use a PHP widget. I have one here:

Actually it was just html code but it didn’t work so I thought I’d throw in the phpadsnew. Well, we know that didn’t work either.

I’ll give your widget a try. I appreciate your help.

Well, is my face red or what? Looks like it’s Poker Room that is the problem because all the other banners I’ve tried work fine using the sidebar widgets.

I’ll get in touch with them and sort it out. Meanwhile, thank you so very much.
