• – In 2019, who uses inline styling for CSS? So there is no tweaking possible with CSS.
Granted, you can disable inline styling but then there is zero css in use and it just looks bad and would have to style the whole thing from the start which artificially forces a purchase of the paid version, unless i am missing something here?

    – Each and every ingredient pointlessly links back to the same page and therefore provides a poor user experience. The only option is the no follow button premium option, again artificially forcing the premium version.

    – I am frustrated at my time lost setting this all up to then be faced with these features that basically make the free version unusable.

It needs a way to remove inline styling without obliterating the formatting and the link for each individual ingredient needs to be removed too. As it is the free version is little more than a teaser. I appreciate you are not a charity but with all of the additional features the premium version offers there would have been a fair chance my client would have opted to purchase it eventually anyway, as it stands we will be forced to look at alternatives.

    Hi there,

    1. WP Ultimate Recipe uses a pretty advanced Template Editor, which is responsible for that inline styling as it’s automatically generated. You can however disable the “Force CSS Style” setting on the Recipes > Settings > Recipe Template > Advanced page. Once you do that you can tweak the template by using !important flags in your own CSS.

    2. By default the ingredients link to an archive page listing all recipes using those ingredients. Some people really like that feature but you can easily disable it at the bottom of the Recipes > Settings > Recipe Template > Recipe Box page if you’re not one of those people.

    3. I don’t feel like $79 is steep when you look at all the features you’re getting. I’m not sure what you’re referring to with “this pointless feature”? If that’s the ingredient links you’re talking about: as mentioned above, this is just a setting.

With all of that said: as mentioned on our main plugin page (and in a lot of different places) we don’t actually recommend using WP Ultimate Recipe anymore but rather our new WP Recipe Maker plugin instead for these reasons: https://help.bootstrapped.ventures/article/61-what-about-wp-ultimate-recipe

Hope you’ll give our new plugin a shot.

I wrote the review in haste as was frustrated (never a good idea), i edited it 1 minute after your response to make it more reasonable. I will take a look at what you said and adjust the review accordingly.

    Thank you

I have managed to resolve all of the issues i was having going by your response. I have amended the title and rating accordingly.

I am not usually one to so quickly fire off a ill tempered review like that. Thank you for the extremely fast response.

And apologies for not being more patient with the settings, my bad.

Thanks for updating the review, I appreciate it!

The settings page can definitely be a bit overwhelming so feel free to just email us at [email protected] and we’d be happy to help.

I’m going to reiterate our recommendation for our new WP Recipe Maker plugin though. Do send an email if you have any questions about that as well.
