PODS Performance Impact (New Relic)

Love your solutions platform. However, had some performance issues with one of my websites (WooCommerce), and started to monitor the site via New Relic. It seems that PODS is a key consumer of resources? On average, PODS consumer 50% more resources than WooCommerce. I use PODS to help manage contract customers in the website, and nothing is front-end facing. Think of mini-CRM.
Any ideas on how to help manage the resource consumption?
