Pods newbie here-Need help with displaying custom pod field

hi there-
i added a new text field (shortcode enabled) to product post type using Pods.
I read through the documentation and I understand that get_term_meta is to be used to retrieve the data and display it on front end. However it isn’t working and I’m not able to get the field displayed.

return get_term_meta( $termid, ‘field1’ ,true)

Could you help please, im new to wordpress and pods.
