    Hello Sir,
There’s this belief that Pods can extend Existing Post/Content Types.

I have a Recipes Post Type on my website powered by a plugin called WP Recipe Maker.

I’ve tried to use Pods to extend it and add one more WYSIWYG Field Type, but when I go into the Create Recipe Window, the new WYSIWYG Field Type called “Tips” which I’ve created with Pods does not show at all.

1.) Is it that Pods is not truly able to extend Existing Content/Post type?

2.) Or is it that there are Post/Custom Content Types in WordPress that are beyond the scope of Pods?

3.) If my created Pods Fields are not shown in the Edit Window of my Post Type, How else do I circumvent it to see that I can find the Pods Field I created, to be able to enter data into it?

Needing to hear from you soon.

    Special Regards

Pods indeed adds fields to any custom post type or custom taxonomy. It sounds like you did it correctly but that the interface for that particular custom post type is restricted from being extended on purpose by the plugin developer for WP Recipe Maker.

Perhaps they are using a custom UI or a limited UI but it definitely sounds like it’s not allowing integrations by other plugins that integrate with custom post types.

You are correct here. I first used ACF and got the same result, but thought ACF wasn’t doing it’s job correctly or maybe ACF has a bug.

It’s until I uninstalled ACF and tried Pods to begin experiencing the same thing, that I knew it wasn’t a problem with ACF, but a problem somewhere.

And you’ve correctly identified the problem: the interface for that particular custom post type is restricted from being extended on purpose by the plugin developer for WP Recipe Maker.

They have a Custom Fields extension. So you upgrade from Premium to Pro version to be able to Add Custom Fields to the plugin.

One thing is that you can add the Recipes you create there in normal Posts or Pages.

So, can there be a workaround where we can add the Recipes to Posts or Pages, and use Pods to extend those Posts/Pages by Category? And then extend the Custom Fields from there? And then pull these Recipe and Pods Fields into an Elementor Custom Template Design?

    Regards.

You could probably use Pods to recreate all the relational links between recipes, ingredients, etc, and then you won’t need WP Recipe Maker. Then Pods will do anything you want. ??

I paid $49 for WP Recipe Maker. And this subscription is expected every year.

So Yes, if I find a way to recreate everything in WPRM using Pods and probably combined with other plugins, I will opt for such option.

But this is why I’m using WP Recipe Maker, and probably you may know how I can boycott it:

    Check this page– https://chefnitofoods.com/jollof-rice-in-nigerian-style/

    You will notice 3(three) buttons:
1.) JUMP TO RECIPE: When this button is clicked, it jumps to the Recipe section of the page directly.

How do I do this with Pods? Or what method can help me achieve this functionality in Pods?

2.) PRINT RECIPE: Opens up a Print Modal with the Recipe, and ability to disable/enable Image, and ability to email the Recipe.

What in Pods can do this? Or how do I achieve this functionality in Pods?

3.) There the Pin Recipe Button. How do I achieve this in Pods?

All these buttons look like some PHP or JavaScript Coding. You know how I can achieve the functionality of all those buttons in Pods?

    Additionally, there’s:

4.) I am able to use the Block Editor and I then gain access to WordPress Blocks during Content Creation. But when I created Recipe Post Type with Pods, all the Gutenberg Blocks were no where to be found.

How do I use WordPress Blocks in Pods?

5.) In the WPRM Recipe Template, there are visible and hidden functions like Adjustable Servings (visible), Rich Snippets (invisible) and some other functionalities that enable compatibility and functionality.

You know how I can achieve all that in Pods?

    Regards

Your items (1) through (3) are easily achievable through CSS styling. If you know someone with front end skills, they could create a recipe post template with CSS class styles for those buttons.

    (5) Rich Snippets are also available through SEO plugins like Yoast.

Maybe someone else can answer to (4) as I am new to Pods.
