Podpress Stats – Manual stats update has to be done in one go. Really?

I took over an existing podcast that has been running on Podpress 8.8.10.17. I noticed that the stats function was not turned on, and I want to see my download stats. So, I turned it on, and discovered that Podpress has this manual updated required because of incompatibility with past methods of recording stats. Fine.
Problem is, there are over half a million stats records for the podcast. Normally, this would be a pain, but I could work through it doing a little at a time. Thing is, I updated a hundred thousand records, then came back later to find the damn thing is telling me all 500,000 have to be updated, again.
How do I get past this? I can’t see stats until I finish this stupid manual update, but I can’t finish unless I keep at it night and day until it is done.
Anyone got a fix?
